Good and Bad in Gaming
Gaming is among the biggest hobbies and even careers in the world. Many people play games for entertainment or for learning, as others make videos about the games. In this article, I'll be focusing on gaming in general and not so much the details of making gaming videos. Gamers are of all types of ages, genders and religions in all shapes, locations, and sizes. The backgrounds of people who are gamers makes gaming an even more enjoyable experience. Backgrounds of players can be a factor in the types of games gamers engage in. There are many combinations that can be made for various categories related to the type of games and type of gamers. It is essential to look at the game's website for all pertinent details prior to purchasing. There are a variety of websites that allow you to purchase games such as Steam and Humble Bundle. They will show you descriptions, videos made by the company, photos as well as tags for non-user and user tags, reviews, websites company, and accounts on social media. account(s). Make sure to check the website of the game. It might not show you everything you need to know. In a minimum, a gaming company will show a brief description of their sales pitch as well as a tiny amount of photos (5 at the very least) as well as two or three videos from them, and their social profiles. The only thing they'll offer is an informative description as well as their social accounts with user reviews, as well as videos by them. Let's look at the negative things that are thought of about gaming. A majority of negative aspects of games stem from real-life players on those games, the type of games played and the kind of games for the wrong person. The game could be poorly made but it's not always the case where an entire game is not good. It could be that this was the right type of game for the wrong player. That's where the categories can come into play. Maybe a game has some violence. This doesn't mean it's bad, it's just the wrong kind of game for a 7 year old. Maybe you bought one of the puzzle games for a person who loves actions-based games. That means the gamer will not enjoy it, but this doesn't make the game bad! The variety of games is endless from nudity, drugs and alcohol, to horror, gambling with money and more. The various types of games are not suitable for youngsters as well as wrong for people who don't enjoy watching such games. Gaming comes with good and bad aspects, just as everything else. The key is how good and bad are the outcomes. For instance, some games come with a negative side for players that like to engage in a lot of fighting. This is typical in games. For a majority of gamers this is not something to worry about. However youngsters new to the game or even gaming , this can be frustrating. There game guides are occasions when you'd prefer to avoid the negatives completely. There are instances when the good wins over the bad. If this happens , and there is no issue regarding the game; then the bad side is simply that tiny flying insect that landed in your space, which is no big deal. A word of caution: If the danger is more significant than the good, then I strongly suggest avoiding that game. Another factor that players may complain to a game designer or creator is representation. Do I mean an absence of representation, which is not limited to race, body type , or messages within the game. If you can alter your character's appearance and have the ability to customize your character, then you won't have a issue in terms of representation. There's a problem in certain games that do not portray smart and strong females, minorities, females, males, big, small tall, short, males and females. Notice how I didn't place "males" in front of females to make them appear strong? That's because males in games are always depicted as intelligent and strong. In games that show a male strong and smart, he will mostly likely be white, tall, slim, movie star look and buff. He is unlikely to being a minority, small or chubby. He is not too nerdy or buff but still powerful and intelligent. This is even less for females. Some females in games are also tall, white, and strong while showing skin like they have never seen before. These females are only seen within MMORPG gaming (Massively Multiplayer online Playing Game) Playing Game) though. RPG games are meant for fantasy settings where you mostly fight people and monsters. Of course , females' statistics will be high, but they'll not look as strong. In most games, when they introduce a character for you to play they always begin with a white man and then a female, followed by an African-American male and finally a black female. They do not even include individuals who mix races, or even in between. For black characters , they just add one colour of "black" or "African American" and not all black people has that color. In video games The majority of characters are thin and tall. It's not often that you see characters that are thin and short or tall and chubby. short and chubby, etc. There are lots of people who aren't skinny and who aren't tall. And lastly, there's the mental message that is associated with race, gender and body kind. What do I mean by the mental message? Some games send an indirect message about that person being smart and strong or some other thing. While for other games it can be a mental message, either intentionally or not. In the game you are playing, you meet a woman of minority that is small with a nerdy look, chubby, and fat and her character traits are to be a goof ball stupid, ignorant, and foolish. This could send a psychological message to you that the people who are similar to her look similar to her. They're not smart, don't look thin, and don't have the height. They did poorly in school, etc. etc. So you start thinking that you are it happening repeated over and over and again, but also when it happens in other games too. The worst thing is that none of these things are true. There are some who aren't thin, tall, and maybe not that bright; but not EVERYONE is like this! There are short, little minorities who are smart as all get out! There are all sorts of people that are smart! Of of course, all these issues concerning race, gender, physique, other messages don't just appear in games; they're found in movies, TV shows, ads, and more. What's interesting is that some of the creators behind games, films, commercials, TV shows and so on. They are minorities and they make up the majority of people on earth. (Search "world number of people according to race 2016" and then click on the first three links if don't believe me.) Quick disclaimer: I'm NOT SHAKING anyone! Yes, I was shouting that. The article will tell you about what I know, read and hear about gaming. If you're not convinced check out the latest TV shows, movies advertisements and games. A show to look at for a representational quality is Milo Murphy's law. Two games worth considering to get a good reference point for representation include OverWatch as well as Atlas Reactor. These days, it has gotten better for representation specifically race, gender and just now starting the process of defining body types (specifically in this order). There are games that even have characters and robots as playable characters in order to avoid being unable to represent. This solves the issue of gamers wanting their character that represents their real and preferred gender, race or body type as there's a person that all gamers can agree on. It's true that you can't make everyone happy. Now that I've ranted and got the bad issues out of the way, let's start to explore the best aspects of gaming! You have gamers who are as young three years old and up to 90 years old! No matter what age, race, gender, religion, culture, or location gaming is beneficial for everyone. Gaming can not only be fun, but beneficial and also educational. Gaming has its advantages, it can help youth have greater confidence in themselves and become more social. If they participate in an online-based multiplayer game and chat to other players across the world, this can aid them in talking to other people besides family members and gain confidence in what they say. They could go from being an introvert to an avid social person! It could happen quickly or slow. Even the event isn't a game but a place for artists, gamers automobile enthusiasts, fashion designers or anyone else. to have a chat, it'll assist them to be more social. It is important to remember that talking to someone, and then talking to them via voice are two distinct experiences. Teens can be extremely social when typing but very shy when speaking to someone. This is how I am. Before I was shy when conversing with people because I could not tell if I was online or offline, now I've become more comfortable with the situation because I'm able to manage myself and trust myself. However, when it comes down to online voice chats I'm not the most quiet person on the chat. Counterproductive right! It's possible that you'll forget that I was on a phone with you! In the past, when people from the bank would say "Hi" I would never respond, but now I actually respond and say "Hi. How do you feel?" After that I don't really want to engage with them . So I'll be quiet again lol. What do I mean? When you socialize, generally as time passes, you'll get better at it , and eventually become more relaxed and confident about your abilities. Another benefit of gaming is the teamwork. In some games, the only way to win or accomplish a goal is to work in a team of one or more players. In certain games, players are allowed tasks to be accomplished by one player only, but it might be harder to accomplish if there are more players in the game than yourself. There are times when certain tasks can't be accomplished with just one player and need two or more. Sometimes, you form a group with your friends or family to complete the task. There are other times when you can form groups with people who that you haven't met. This is where it can be difficult. If it's a sport where you're able to form a group that's invite only and invite only your friends and family members. It's possible to strategize with them, you'd be more comfortable speaking with the group, and they'll be able to agree to work together. If you're playing a game in which there's no system for group play but you can still work with others, aka no cost for the fall season and converse with them, there might still be an objective which can only be accomplished by multiple players. Do you need to play with players that you've never met before ? If your family and acquaintances aren't there and you're really determined to achieve this task? This isn't necessarily a negative thing , however! This is where you don't just become more social, but also learn to collaborate with players that you've never met before. If you always play with your family or friends, you both already know how to work well together and what each thinks and so on. However, if you're playing with someone who's never met it can be a bit challenging. Me and my brother grew up doing everything together and didn't really have any friends, maybe acquaintances and colleagues but not really friends. Therefore, we were used to being aware of what each wanted , how they behaved, or what they did. When we finally made two new friends, it was very difficult to reach a consensus on a lot of things. Therefore, if you have fun and collaborate with other people this time, it'll be simpler later. Me and my brother have honed our skills working with other people. Another advantage is patience, which helps with socializing and team building. Since, to get better at something it is not enough to continue doing it, but you also must be patient while doing it. There are many occasions in games that you need to be patient. Like reading is in every area, you need to remain patient in all situations. In games , you will always need to wait for something. You have to be patient for finding something, something to cook, something to finish dying the friends who will return from being afk (Away From Keyboard), the next round of monsters to come, the next level to be opened, etc. etc. and so on. while writing this article! This is why gaming will help you develop more patience during gaming and other aspects of your life. Another benefit is the hand and eye coordination. When playing you have to be aware of what's happening on your screen while simultaneously pressing your keyboard or controller buttons to perform other actions on your screen. If you wish to move your character within that game, you have to use your keyboard and the mouse or controller while still gazing at your screen. It's like learning to write. The majority of the time, you're taught to type sentences and words while looking at your screen without looking at your keyboard. The same applies to gaming. You need to be able to press the appropriate keys to complete the thing you're trying while looking at your screen. After all, if you're pressing the keys, but not watching your screen then how are you likely be able to know if your performing the task correctly? Now, this one is an educational and benefit : memory. Games can help improve your memory. How? Let me tell you. You've heard me talk about typing. People who can look at their screens, and type without having to look at their keyboards have something called "muscle memory". If they wish to see an individual letter appear on screen they just must press that key and they don't have to be looking at their keyboard since they press that key so many times that they and their muscles remember the location of that key. Your muscles are already memorized. Are you skeptical? Check out your keyboard right now. You can see where the numbers, letters, and symbols are right? The letters aren't placed in an alphabetical sequence. Therefore, if you attempted to enter your name, or something else on a digital keyboard where the letters were alphabetical Did you take you longer than usual to type the word and was it weird and confusing? It was. I've done it. Why do you think I did it?
